It’s no secret that REALTORS® at McGarr Realty love living in Niagara! After all, we have much to be thankful for in our region.

With all that the Niagara region has just been through, we have an immense appreciation for the local businesses that continue to provide for our community. We are thankful for the farmers and grape growers who have kept both our plates and our wine glasses full of local, delicious sustenance. They work hard not only to feed our community but to bring us comfort with their local goods made with care.

If you are still wary of visiting the grocery store or have grown accustomed to the convenience of curbside pickup, our region is home to some amazing farm shares, bakeries, and wineries who will deliver right to your door! Here are a few of our team’s favourites:

Mingle Hill Farms

With a name like Mingle Hill, it’s not surprising that this farm enjoys bringing people together over good food. The family-run farm grows delicious organic vegetables and herbs on the Niagara escarpment. From June to October, you can order a weekly farm box that’s filled with lots of veggie goodness! As a bonus, each week you’ll receive a recipe by Chef Steven Glintz of Gather Niagara Catering to spark your culinary imagination. Mingle Hill Farms also offers an online marketplace where you can “Build Your Own Bushel” of locally harvested produce and homemade goods. They offer home delivery in many areas of Niagara as well as curbside pickup in Beamsville or Welland.

Small Scale Farms

Small Scale Farms has a mission to get local food onto the plates of Niagara residents. The farm share runs an online shop with produce boxes, fresh bread, and local meat from Kent Heritage farms. But what our McGarr Realty team loves most about this farm is their passion for making local food accessible for everyone in our community. Their Food Fed Forward program allows customers to pay for food boxes for others in need. And for every box sold, Small Scale Farms gives away one free box of vegetables. They offer delivery across the Niagara region.

Con Gusto Bakery

One of the things we learned from the quarantine baking craze is how much technique goes into making a perfect loaf of bread. For Con Gusto Bakery, this comes from centuries-old techniques that are tried and true. The St. Catharines bakery is known for its quality baked goods that use only the best ingredients. Con Gusto’s online shop means you can order sweet treats such as cupcakes and tarts, or artisanal breads. Delivery is free in St. Catharines and surrounding areas, and pickup is also available.

Back 10 Cellars

Back 10 Cellars is a small winery with a mighty story! After a decade of hard work and determination, Back 10 Cellars is now an award-winning winery that prides itself on craftsmanship. Visit the online store where you can shop a selection like the Start From Scratch Chardonnay and The Big Leap Cabernet Franc. Curbside pickup and free shipping are available.

Southbrook Vineyards

Known as Canada’s most thoughtful winery, Southbrook Vineyards is renowned for its goal of being as eco-friendly as possible with its organic and biodynamic certifications. Southbrook’s online shop offers a range of packages that include previously unreleased wines to try! You can also browse for honey, cheese, and preserves. They offer no-contact delivery throughout southern Ontario.

Many of us in Niagara are incredibly fortunate, even in these times. Within every community, there are people who struggle under different circumstances. While you are treating yourself to all that this land has to offer, be sure to take a moment and donate to Community Care. This organization provides emergency services, shelter, and food for people in need throughout the Niagara region.

Let McGarr Realty show you why there’s no better place to live than Niagara! Our knowledgeable team can help you find your perfect place in this beautiful region.
